The Australian Peacekeeping Dinner will be held on Friday 24th August 2012 from 7pm at the Shangri-La hotel, Sydney, in association with the Australian Defence Forces and the Australian Police Force to raise funds for the Australian Peacekeeping Memorial Project.

The Australian military, police and civilians have been undertaking peace operations for over 60 years, with the first ever deployment for peacekeeping to the Dutch East Indies in 1947. Since then, over 90,000 Australians have been deployed in more than 60 peacekeeping missions around the world.

A volunteer committee of peacekeeping veterans have been working hard over the last few years to develop a National Peacekeepers Memorial on ANZAC Parade in Canberra to honour those who have and who will continue to serve on peacekeeping operations.

An Audience with David Gonski

An Audience with David Gonski, in support of Magen David Adom (MDA), will be held at the Shangri La, Cumberland St Sydney, between 12pm and 2pm on Tuesday 14th August 2012.

As one of Australia’s most influential businessmen, David Gonski will be participating in a Q and A session focused on “Issues affecting Australian business and its economy at the present time.” The Master of Ceremonies and moderator for this session will be Brooke Corte from Sky Business.

All monies raised will go towards purchasing an ambulance to be used by the emergency medical life-saving organisation, MDA.  Since June 2006, Magen David Adom has been officially recognized by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) as the national aid society of the state of Israel under the Geneva Conventions, and a member of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

It is only with support that MDA can continue to provide Israel’s 7.5 million citizens with state of the art life-saving facilities including blood supplies and research, ambulance and paramedic services as well as humanitarian aid in Israel and the International community.
